Russian Agriculture Institute Raises Grain Harvest Forecast

01 февраля 2010 года

2009-09-08 By Maria Kolesnikova

Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s Institute for Agriculture Market Studies increased its forecast for the country’s grain harvest, saying draught damage in the Volga and Urals regions is less than expected.

Russia will probably produce 92.5 million tons of grain this marketing year, including 65.2 million tons of wheat, said Dmitry Rylko, the director of the institute, which is also known by its Russian acronym IKAR. Wheat exports may fall to 15.2 million tons in the period, Rylko said at a conference in Moscow today.
