The crop was 19.9 million tons in 2010, Zubkov said today during a teleconference in Moscow. Russia’s capacity to export sugar made from beets is estimated at between 140,000 tons and 150,000 tons, Zubkov said. The Moscow-based Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, or Ikar, estimates the country’s sugar export capacity at 250,000 tons in the season that started Aug. 1, Evgeny Ivanov, the institute’s senior sugar analyst, said today by phone.
