Russia’s Sugar-Beet Crop Climbs to 35.7 Million Tons, Ikar Says

17 ноября 2011 года

Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s sugar-beet harvest has climbed to 35.7 million metric tons, 60 percent larger than the entire production last year, the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies said.

The harvest may end up at 50 million tons, Evgeny Ivanov, senior analyst at the company, said by phone from Moscow today. Last year, the crop was 22.3 million tons, according to the federal state statistics service. Sugar production from the beets may be 5.2 million tons, based on “extremely favorable” weather, he said. Production was 2.7 million a year earlier, according to the institute.
