The sugar beet crop is seen at 40 million tons this year. There should be a sufficient amount of the sweetener to meet domestic demand and to export some, Zubkov said. "The issues of refining and beet storage are always problematic," he said. "We are building a number of large scale enterprises that will deal with refining, storage and sales in Tambov and other regions. That is why I think these sugar output figures are doable." According to the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, known as Ikar, sugar output may reach 4.3 million tons this season. "Regardless of the size of the beet crop, we can produce just this amount," Ikar's senior analyst Evgeny Ivanov told Bloomberg by phone on Sept. 29. If the weather is good the country may produce up to 4.5 million tons, he said. Source: Bloomberg | #sugar | Comments: 0 Views: 67
