Russia May Harvest Up to 88 Million Tons of Grain, IKAR Says

10 мая 2011 года

April 14 (Bloomberg) -- Russia's grain harvest may come to as much as 88 million metric tons this year, according to the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies.

The estimate is based on an "optimistic" scenario, Dmitry Rylko, general director of IKAR, as the Moscow-based institute is known, said in Kiev today. The crop may total 80 million tons under a "moderate" scenario, he said. IKAR estimated the harvest at 84 million tons in February.

The wheat harvest will "depend greatly on the situation in Volga area", Rylko said, estimating the crop at between 50 million and 54.9 million tons.

Russia may export about 9 million tons of grains in the next marketing year if its harvest reaches 84 million tons and final carryover stocks are 15 million tons as of July 1, Rylko said.
