The rains come in a number of regions of Russia too late for grain

MOSCOW, may 12 (Reuters) – Export prices for Russian wheat old crop was steady last week in quiet trade due to long may holidays, limited export demand and rains, which replaced the drought in the South, SovEcon said.

“The rains significantly improved the condition of crops, but serious damage was already done in the Stavropol and Krasnodar region,” – says SovEcon.

SovEcon on Tuesday said that because of the dry April weather has lowered the forecast of wheat harvest in 2020.

In the next couple of weeks the weather will again be a little drier standards in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories and in the South of Rostov region, the main export of the Russian regions announced last Friday by the Agency. The condition of crops is satisfactory or good in the Central Chernozem and the Volga region.

The export price of a tonne of Russian wheat with 12.5 percent protein in Novorossiysk by the end of last week, remained at $228 FOB, barley – $180.

Prices for the new harvest was formed at $198-200 per tonne of wheat and $160-162 – barley, says the review SovEcon. The Agency also noted that it will no longer provide prices for old crop due to the lack of quotations of a sentence.

Wheat prices in the domestic market declined after the pandemic coronavirus export quota was selected on April 26. The export of Russian grain, according to SovEcon in April amounted to about 3.7 million tons.

The index of white sugar IKAR for the South of the Russian Federation may 8, grew up a week before of 24.80 rubles per kilogram from 24.50 rubles, or up to $334,59 per ton from $332,47 a week earlier.
