Export Summary-China buys U.S. soybeans, Cyprus buys corn

Jan 14 (Reuters) - Snapshot of the global export markets for grains, oilseeds and edible oils as reported by government and private sources.

SOYBEAN SALE: Private exporters reported the sale of 120,000 tonnes of U.S. soybeans to China for delivery to China this marketing year, said the Agriculture Department on Monday.

CORN SALE: Buyers from Cyprus have purchased about 6,000 tonnes of corn from Romania and 6,000 tonnes from Bulgaria in recent days, European traders said on Monday.

PENDING WHEAT TENDER: Australian wheat was offered at the lowest price of $384.88 a tonne c&f liner out in Iraq's tender to purchase a minimum 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat, European traders said on Monday. No purchase has yet been made, traders said. The tender closed on Sunday and offers must be valid until Thursday, Jan. 17.

WHEAT TENDER: Algeria's state grains agency OAIC has issued a tender to buy optional-origin milling wheat for shipment in March and April, European traders said. The bidding deadline is on Tuesday, Jan. 15, they said.

PENDING TENDERS

WHEAT TENDER: Iraq issued a tender to buy a minimum of 50,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, Romania, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Germany, a statement from the trade ministry said. The tender is open until Jan. 13 and offers must be valid until Jan. 17. Results awaited.

WHEAT EXPORT TENDER: India's state-run trading company MMTC Ltd. has issued a global tender to export 50,000 tonnes of wheat in February, a company statement said. The bid closes on Jan. 16.

WHEAT EXPORT TENDER: Indian state-run trading company PEC has issued a new international tender to sell and export 125,000 tonnes of Indian milling wheat, European traders said. Tender deadline is Jan. 17, and offers must remain valid until Jan. 28.

SOYOIL, SUNOIL TENDER: Egypt's state-owned Food Industries Holding Company (FIHC) has issued an international tender to purchase up to 30,000 tonnes of soyoil and 30,000 tonnes of sunflower oil, European traders said. Tender deadline is Jan. 17.

RICE TENDER: Iraq has issued a tender to buy a minimum of 15,000 tonnes of basmati rice of Indian and Pakistani origin, a trade ministry statement said. The bidding deadline is Jan. 22 and offers must remain valid until Jan. 27, the statement said.

WHEAT TENDER: Bangladesh's state grains buyer has issued an international tender to purchase and import 50,000 tonnes of wheat, European traders said. Tender closing date is Jan. 23.

WHEAT TENDER: The Ethiopian government has issued an international tender to purchase 40,000 tonnes of milling wheat, European traders said. Bidding deadline is Jan. 26. Origin was optional, traders said.

WHEAT TENDER: Syria's state grains agency has issued an international tender to purchase and import 100,000 tonnes of soft milling wheat, European traders said. The tender deadline is Jan. 28.

SOYOIL TENDER: Bangladesh's state purchasing agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh has issued an international tender to purchase up to 3,000 tonnes of soyoil, European traders said. Tender deadline is Feb. 11.

TOP STORIES: Vessels on the Mississippi River were gearing up on Monday for the shipping superhighway to fully reopen within weeks after being crippled by a severe drought as heavy rains at the weekend and an earlier-than-expected finish to the rock removal improved prospects for shippers.

* India is poised to triple wheat exports this year to a higher-than-expected, record 6 million tonnes, helping plug a shortfall in lower-quality grain supplies and keep a lid on global prices.

* Prices for Russian export wheat in the shallow-water ports of the Azov Sea have exceeded prices for some U.S. and French export wheat, the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said on Monday.

* Thailand is likely to suffer a further drop in rice exports this year after a slump in 2012 caused by a government intervention scheme that has pushed prices of its grain up to uncompetitive levels, a group of leading Thai exporters said on Monday.

* Brazil will likely harvest a record 80.43 million tonnes of soybeans this season, local crop analyst Celeres said on Monday, raising its forecast from 79.02 million tonnes a month earlier on a favorable climate outlook.
