Russia's grain export seen down to 2.5 mln tonnes in Oct - IKAR

01 октября 2012 года

MOSCOW, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Russia's Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said on Monday it expects Russia, one of the world's key wheat exporters, to export 2.5 million tonnes of grain this month, down from 3 million tonnes in September.

IKAR also increased its forecast for Russia's 2012 grain harvest to 70.5 million tonnes from its previous forecast of 70 million tonnes, based on updated harvest data, it said in a note.

Russia's wheat harvest estimate was also raised to 40 million tonnes from 39 million tonnes.

Since the start of 2012/13 marketing year, which began from July 1, Russia exported about 7.9 million tonnes of grains, including legumes, IKAR added.
