IKAR in Mass MediaRussian wheat export prices up, August volumes expected to nearly double11 августа 2025 года MOSCOW, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Russian wheat export prices rose last week as some farmers decided not to sell and wait for higher prices amid fairly strong demand from exporters. At the same time, analysts believe that export volumes in August will almost double compared to July, since more than half of the harvest of the new crop is complete. The price for Russian wheat with 12.5% protein content for free-on-board (FOB) delivery in early September was $239 per metric ton at the end of last week, up $3 from the previous week, said Dmitry Rylko, head of IKAR consultancy. According to Rylko, the price increase is due to the reluctance of farmers, primarily in southern regions, who have almost completed the wheat harvest, to sell at current prices. This is partly motivated by declining prospects for late crops in these regions due to difficult weather conditions. "In addition, everyone can see that there is not much high-quality wheat in the Old World this season," he said. Sovecon consultancy estimated offers at $237-$239 per ton, compared with $237-$240 in the previous week. Sovecon estimates wheat exports in August at 3.8 million tons, compared to 2.0 million tons in July. A year earlier, in August, exports amounted to 5.7 million tons. IKAR expects wheat exports this month to reach up to 3.5 million tons, compared to around 1.8 million tons in July. Rusagrotrans analysts expect wheat exports in August at about 3.55 million tons. Last week IKAR raised its 2025 wheat crop and export forecasts by 0.5 million tons. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture still forecasts the grain harvest at 135 million tons in 2025, the minister, Oksana Lut, said last week. Russia has already harvested more than 60 million tons of grain from 40% of the planned areas. Rainfall in central Russia over the next two weeks will hamper harvesting and may impair the quality of wheat. Abnormally hot weather continues in southern regions, according to Rusagrotrans. Sovecon also notes rainy weather in the Urals and Siberia.
