IKAR in Mass MediaIKAR raises 2025 Russian wheat forecast to 84.5 mln tons on improved crop conditions26 июня 2025 года MOSCOW, June 26 (Reuters) - The IKAR agriculture consultancy said on Thursday it had raised its 2025 Russian wheat production forecast to 84.5 million metric tons from 83.8 million. IKAR cited better crop conditions in the southern region of Stavropol as the main reason for the upgrade. "Stavropol may gather a record harvest this year and become the leading region in Russia in terms of yield. In Rostov, the situation has worsened, and we have lowered our forecast," IKAR head Dmitry Rylko told Reuters. He added that the harvest in Krasnodar region, which neighbours Stavropol and Rostov, will be below average. The top three grain-producing regions last year were Rostov, Krasnodar and Stavropol, in that order. Rylko said the upgraded forecast also reflected improved conditions in parts of central Russia. Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said last week that Russia aims to export 45 million tons of wheat in the upcoming marketing season which starts on July 1, slightly more than in the current season. Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter. The government estimates this year's grain harvest at 135 million metric tons in 2025, above last year's level of 130 million tons. The figure includes the expected harvest from Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine. Another consultancy, Sovecon, raised its forecast for Russia's 2025 wheat production by 0.2 million metric tons to 83.0 million metric tons on Wednesday, citing improved crop conditions in parts of central Russia.
