IKAR in Mass MediaRussia- Sugar production totals 5.86 million mt for 2018-19 crop year05 февраля 2019 года The Russian sugar beet-processing season has come to a close, with approximately 5.86 million mt of sugar produced nationwide, the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said. "This season, [beet] processing was fast and ended on February 1, much earlier than last year," said Evgeny Ivanov, an IKAR analyst. Ivanov projected that approximately 100,000 mt of additional sugar will be produced through molasses processing, bringing total sugar production on the year to 5.95 million mt, the report said. Sugar production in the 2017-18 season was 6.64 million mt. Ivanov stated that the decline in sugar production should not disrupt domestic supply. "The [sugar] reserves this year are more than enough and will fully satisfy the demand for it," Ivanov said. Sugar reserves were recorded at 4.4 million mt through the end of December 2018. Domestic sugar requirements are estimated at 6.1 million mt annually. Russia harvested 41.2 million mt of sugar beets in 2018, 15.2% less than the 2017 figure, data from Rosstat show. The Russian sugar beet crop year runs from August to July. Source: platts.com | #sugar | Comments: 0 Views: 177
