Russian Beet-Sugar Production Estimate for 2018-19 Cut by IKAR

(Bloomberg) -- Output of white sugar from beets in the season that started in August seen at 5.5m-5.8m tons, down from previous forecast of 5.8m-6m tons, according to Evgeny Ivanov, analyst at consultant IKAR in Moscow.

Estimate includes sugar produced from reprocessing of sugar syrup and molasses, Ivanov says in emailed report

Output est. reduction based on progress of harvesting and processing

NOTE: Russia produced 6.6m tons of beet sugar last season, including from reprocessing of syrup and molasses, according to IKAR

Russia has potential for small sugar exports, as it has carryover inventories of ~200,000 tons and is expected to import ~300,000 tons of sugar
