The Fat-and- Oil Industry — a Driver of Growth in the Russian Agro-Industrial Complex

On 3-4 April 2018, the Radisson Slavyanskaya hotel in Moscow will host the conference “The Fat-and- Oil Industry — a Driver of Growth in the Russian Agro-Industrial Complex” (from hereon called “the Conference”) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The Conference has been organized by the Fat and Oil Union of Russia. The co- organizers are the Association of Fat and Oil Producers and Consumers (APMP), the Association of Fat and Oil Enterprises of the Eurasian Economic Union (APMP EAES), the Union of Vegetable Oil Producers (SPRM) and the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR).

More than 200 representatives are expected to attend on behalf of enterprises in the oil- and-fat industry, oilseed producers, technology and equipment providers, and industry analysts. The first day of the Conference will feature examinations of the current trends in the fat- and-oil industry, as well as the key challenges facing market players in the coming seasons. Most notably, leading importers from India and China have been invited to give their expert evaluations of Russia’s prospects in those countries, and to take part in bilateral negotiations with interested exporters.

The plenary session of the Conference will be opened by Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation A.N. Tkachev. Discussion topics of the session will include Russia’s oil-and- fat sector in the “Export of Agro-Industrial Complex Products” project and the role of industry in achieving the Ministry of Agriculture’s “Efficient Hectare” project.

The second day of the Conference will be dedicated to technological questions in the sector: relating to the production of oilseeds in the context set by the Minister of Agriculture on the annual increase of the crop acreage of oil-bearing plants by 700 thousand hectares, and the production of vegetable oils, mayonnaises and fats, logistics and ecology.
