When compared with the end of June, when the figure reached to 42.5 rubles per kg, sugar became cheaper by 1.7 times.

In January-August the production of sugar in Russia in comparison with the same period in 2016 increased by 37.5% to 1.14 million tons In particular, sugar production from sugar beets has increased 1.8 times to 1.1 million tons and import of raw sugar fell by 10 times to 21.9 thousand tons.

The proportion of beet sugar production rose to 98.1% vs 73.5 percent a year earlier, writes "Agroinvestor".

The Union of sugar producers of Russia noted that from sugar beet already produced 2.35 million tons of sugar. This exceeds last year's level of 17.9%.

At the Institute for agricultural market studies predict that this season sugar production will reach 6.5 mn t. meanwhile, domestic demand is 5,8-5,9 million tonnes.
