CBOT wheat climbs, gains against MGEX spring wheat on spreads

CHICAGO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed higher Friday on largely technical buying, including the unwinding of long Minneapolis/short Chicago spread positions, traders said.

* CBOT December wheat settled up 4-1/4 cents at $4.38-1/4 per bushel.

* K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended up 2-1/2 cents at $4.38-3/4 a bushel while MGEX December spring wheat fell 8-3/4 cents at $6.31-3/4.

* MGEX wheat was also pressured by a second day of heavy deliveries against the September contract, totaling 909 contracts. (http://bit.ly/2wYdwgJ)

* The CBOT reported no deliveries against CBOT September wheat futures and 275 K.C. wheat deliveries.

* Russian agriculture consultancy IKAR raised its forecast for the country's 2017 wheat output and exports to 81-84 million tonnes and 31-33 million tonnes, respectively.

* Ukrainian farmers have started winter grain sowing for the 2018 harvest, the agriculture ministry said. Weather forecasters this week said hot and dry weather in Ukraine's eastern and southern regions in August could hamper sowing.

* Excessively wet conditions are threatening the development of 34 percent of the 5.35 million hectares of wheat planted in Argentina, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange said in a weekly report on Thursday.
