Russian domestic grain offer prices added up to 225 roubles per tonne last week on the average, compared to 75 roubles a week before, SovEcon agricultural analysts said. The most active exporters' demand was for fourth-grade milling wheat, it said. "We observe some decrease in export barley market activities due to lower demand, while demand for wheat remains strong," the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said. There was an increase in domestic grain prices in dollar terms due to further rouble strengthening, it said. Third-grade milling wheat rose to $155 per tonne, fourth-grade wheat to $136, and fifth-grade feed wheat to $110 in southern Russia. Export prices have not changed noticeably, and ordinary (fourth-grade) wheat prices ranged between $180 and $185 per tonne, and feed barley between $140-145 per tonne, both FOB Novorossisk. SovEcon said bid prices for fourth-grade wheat rose to 5,600-5,800 roubles ($169.8-$175.9) per tonne CPT Novorossiisk, fifth-grade feed wheat to 4,500-4,900 roubles per tonne. Export volumes were high in April, and by the end of the month total 2008/09 exports were estimated at an all time high of 18.5 million tonnes. After an impressive period of rise domestic crude sunoil export price has stopped growing and finished last week at $760 per tonne FOB Novorossiisk, IKAR said. "The reason for weaker export sunoil prices are associated with swine flu, as lower demand for pork and soybean meal causes the weakening of global demand for all oils," it said. Internal crude sunoil price ended the week at a higher level of $716, IKAR said. Domestic sunoil prices added some 700 roubles per tonne due to a notable difference between the domestic and export markets, SovEcon said. IKAR said domestic sunseed purchase prices fell to $262-$274 levels, as sunseed stocks at farms were estimated to be 3.5 times higher than a year ago, and oversupply fears pushed prices further down. Average sunseed prices appeared to stabilise and some crushers began raising purchase prices, SovEcon said. Sugar prices rose modestly in rouble terms last week, IKAR said. In dollar terms they rose to $631 from $612 a week before in Krasnodar due to stronger rouble. Source: Reuters | #grain | Comments: 0 Views: 40
