IKAR in Mass MediaRussian beet yield lower13 октября 2014 года As of October 10th, Russian farmers had harvested 21.3 million mt of sugar beet from 63.5% of planned area, compared with 18.6 million mt at the same time last year, according to data from the Agriculture Ministry, Reuters reports. However, beet yields averaged 36.87mt per ha, down from 41.85 mt/ha a year ago. Rossiyskaya Gazetta reports that sugar production in Russia is being affected by the import of raw cane sugar to Russia from other countries of the Customs Union, especially from Kazakhstan. The issue is expected to be discussed by the Eurasian Economic Commission.The publication noted that the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies recently lowered its forecast of Russian sugar production to 4.2 million mt from the 4.4 million mt projected in spring. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, output of hard and liquid white sugar rose by 7.9% on the year to 754,200mt in the first half of 2014, the Pischevaya Promyshlennost reports. Production of (hard) beet sugar dropped by 16.4% to 217,000 mt, while cane sugar output increased by 22.4% to 515,800mt.
